Mondragone.

Mondragone is a municipality in the Province of Caserta in the region of Campania.
The first historical population of the area was the Aurunci. In 375, during the late Roman Empire, a village known as Petrinum was founded after an earthquake had destroyed the town of Sinuessa. In the Middle Ages, it was occupied by the Normans who built (or re-built) an important castle here.
Mondragone is very famous for the production of a cheese, mozzarella. It is also famous for the Falerno wine, the scrippella (a local sweet fried in olive oil, with a typical spiral form) and the Guappa (a liquor made with hoax's milk).
Mondragone is also a thermal and seaside town. If you came here, you can see and visit lots of monument like: Ducal Palace, la Rocca on Mount Petrino, Tarcagnota, Paladino's tower, the archaeological museum and the Roman ruins. You can see also lots of important churches: S.Anna a Monte's Church, Belvedere's Sanctuary, San Michele's Church, San Franceco's Church and others.

Selfies: a global phenomenon.

Selfie is an internet term for "self-portrait", used to describe self-taken digital photos.

It is unclear where the term "selfie" began, but we know that it was used on the social-networking site MySpace and it was submitted to Urban Dictionary in 2005.

The most common types are:

• No makeup selfie: it is a selfie in which the subject is shown without wearing any cosmetics;

• Selfies at funerals: it is a single topic blog that curates a series of selfies of people taken while attending a funeral service;

• Belfies: Butt Selfie, or sometimes belfies, is a type of selfie in which the photographer takes self-portraits of their backside.

• The pet selfie: a selfie taken with a pet.

• The car selfie: a selfie taken in the car. 

• The duck faces selfies: I think that it doesn't make people prettier. It makes people look stupid and desperate.

The importance of the languages in the world.

In the world there are between 6000 and 7000 languages. We know that the first form of written language is the Cuneiform script. Sign languages come from the Abbé de l'Epée, the first person who recognized the importance of using a sign language for the instruction of deaf children. It isn't universal, because there are many varieties and there can actually be more than one signed language in a country, just as for oral languages. The country with the highest number of languages is Russia, that has from 130 to 200 spoken languages (depending on the criteria). The European Union has, today, 24 official and working languages. The language most spoken mother tongue in EU is German, but the language most spoken in EU is English. We also know that the official language of Azerbaijan is called Azeri. Cymraeg is the name of the Gaelic language spoken in Wales.
Germanic languages are: Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Swedish.
Slavic languages are: Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Serbian and Czech.
Romance languages are: Romanian, Occitan, French and Sardinian.
Hebrew and Arabic are written from right to left. Japanese is written from top to bottom. Maltese is written from left to right.
We can finally say that the words educated people use can reach some 50.000 words; the words they know but do not use is somewhat larger.

The story of Gelert.

This story takes place in a castle in Wales many years ago.
This story is about a dog called Gelert and his man Llewely.
Many years ago, the prince's wife died on child-birth. Llewely always considered his dog his best friend so a day, when the knight went out hunting, he left his son in the care of Gelert. Next, when he returned, he found a lot of blood everywhere. After that, he saw Gelert covered of blood and the knight thought that he killed the baby, so he killed the dog. The knight heard the baby crying and saw a dead wolf. The dog killed the wolf and protected the baby.
Gelert's body was buried outside the castle walls. On the headstone, is written "Brave Gelert's grave".
The author's theme is the friendship between an animal and a man, but also not to judge at the first sight.

Naples.

Naples is an Italian city, but also the Campania chief town. The Naples area has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The oldest traces of the Greek civilization in Naples dated back to the 2nd millennium B.C.. During its history, Naples has been captured, destroyed and attacked many times. The city has seen volcanic eruptions, foreign invasions and revolutions. Naples was also an advocate for Italian unification during the Neapolitan war. Today, it's part of the Italian Republic.

Naples has played an important role in the music of Italy and in the history of western European musical traditions. The vitality of Neapolitan popular music from the late 19th century has made songs like 'O sole mio and Funiculì Funiculà (canzone Napoletana). A Cantautore is a songwriter who sings his own music. Modern Neapolitan performers are Pino Daniele (the best-know Neapolitan Cantautore), Nino D'Angelo, Daniele Sepe...

Some typical Neapolitan foods are: pasta (invented in Gragnano) [1], cheese (like mozzarella di bufala [2], ricotta, provola, scamorza...), sea food, meat (expecially braciole or carne pizzaiola [3])...  But the most popular and best know creation of all Neapolitan cuisine is pizza [4]. There are also some typical cakes and desserts: babà [5], sfogliatella, zeppola, pastiera (an Easter cake) [6] and struffoli (typical Christmas cake) [7]. For the drink, Naples is know in all the world for the coffee [8] and liqueur, like Limoncello.

I'm from Naples and I believe that it is the most beautiful city in the world. We say "you see Naples and then you die".

RAK: Random Acts of Kindness.

A RAK is a random act of kindness, that is a selfless act performed by a person or people wishing either to assist or to cheer up an individual person or people.

Some acts that we can do easly are:

-Just smile at one extra person;

-Eat lunch with someone new;

-Give someon special an extra hug;

-Send creative compliments or a positive message to someone in need;

-Donate unwanted or unused clothes to someone in need;

-Make a little monetary contribution or offer to help pay for someone in line.

In Naples there is a very beautiful act, call "Caffè sospeso". This is a tradition in the working-class cafés of Naples where a person who has experienced good luck financially pays for two coffees, but receives and consumes only one, the second being left until a person enquires later whether a sospeso is available.

Rosa Parks.

On a cold December evening in 1955, Rosa Parks quietly incited a revolution, by just sitting down.
She was tired after spending the day at work as a department store seamstress. She stepped onto the bus for the ride home and sat in the fifth row (the first row of the "COLORED SECTION").
In Montgomery, Alabama, when a bus became full, the seats nearer the front were given to white passengers.
Montgomery bus driver James Blake ordered Parks and three other African Americans seated nearby to move ("Move y'all, I want those two seats,") to the back of the bus.
Three riders complied; Parks did not.
After Parks refused to move, she was arrested and fined $10. The chain of events triggered by her arrest changed the United States.

Black History Month.

Black history month is an annual celebration of achievements  by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. The story of Black History Month begins in 1915: Carter G. Woodson and the prominent minister Jesse E. Moorland founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. They sponsored a National Negro History Week in 1926, choosing the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. By the late 1960s, thanks in part to the Civil Rights Movement,Negro History Week had evolved into Black History Month. President Gerald R. Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976.

Palindromes.

A palindrome is a word or phrase which reads the same in both directions. The word "palindrome" was coined by the English playwright Ben Jonson in the 17th century from the Greek, meaning running back again. Some examples are: RADAR, POP, MADAM, LEVEL, EYE.

Palindromes as a form of wordplay have been created for many centuries. For example, the ancient Greeks are known to have often inscribed the following onto their fountains. The Romans were also admirers of palindrome.

2D  Palindromes are word squares in which every row and column reads as a word in both directions:

Some well-known English palindromes are: "A man, a plan, a canal - Panama!", "Madam, I'm Adam" or "Madam in Eden, I'm Adam".

Happy Days.

Happy Days is an American television sitcom that aired first-run from January 15, 1974, to September 24, 1984, on ABC. Created by Garry Marshall, the series presents an idealized vision of life in the mid-1950s to mid-1960s United States. Happy Days is one of the highest-rated shows of the 1970s.
The series revolves around teenager Richie Cunningham and his family.

Other actors are:
- Marion "Mrs. C" Cunningham: wife of Howard Cunningham, mother of Richie and Joanie, and a traditional homemaker;

- Howard "Mr. C" Cunningham: husband of Marion Cunningham, father of Richie and Joanie, business owner of a hardware store called "Cunningham's Hardware", he is a lodge member, and family man;

- Joanie Cunningham: Richie's younger sister;

- Arthur Herbert "Fonzie" Fonzarelli: initially a minor character, he was a hugely popular heart-breaker;

- Warren "Potsie" Weber: Richie's best friend and an aspiring talented singer;

- Ralph Malph: in the first season, he was more of a side character to plots. He is know for saying "I still got it!" after delivering one of his jokes;

- Charles "Chachi" Arcola: Fonzie's younger cousin;

- Lori Beth Allen-Cunningham: Richie's girlfriend and later his wife;

The first two seasons of Happy Days were filmed using a single-camera setup and laugh track. The show had two main sets: the Cunningham home and Arnold's/Al's Drive-in, the meeting-place.

Sleeping Beauty

Long ago and far away there lived a good king and queen.  The people loved them and their lives would have been very happy if only they  had a child.
Years went by and then, one spring, when they thought all hope was gone, the queen gave birth to a baby girl. The young princess was such a lovely baby and they called her Aurora.
Everyone was excitedly preparing for the christening of the new baby princess. Anyone who was important in the land had been invited to the christening, including all the good fairies.
But, unfortunately, there was one important fairy that the king and queen had forgotten to invite: Grizzlestinki!
She was a scary fairy who lived up in the mountains.
On the day of the christening everyone had a wonderful celebration at the palace and there were lots of lovely presents for the baby. But the most magical presents of all were from the good fairies; one gave her beauty, one gave her a sweet nature, one a lovely voice, one charm, one kindness and one a sense of humour. The king says to the queen that their daughter wasn't lucky to have all these presents.
Suddenly an horrific voice said that he mustn't be so sure and a cold wind blew throught the hall, the door burst open and Grizzelstinki arrived. She says that she hasn't given her present to the baby. Her present was a terrible thing: when the little girl was older, she'll cut her finger and fall asleep for 100 years.
So Grizzelstinki disappeared in a puff of smoke!
The king and queen were still very worried so they decided to ban anything sharp in the kingdom that the princess might cut her finger on.
Years went by and as Aurora got older the people almost forgot the curse that was upon her.
One day, when she was alone and bored, Aurora decided to explore all the rooms in the palace. Up and up the stone staircase she climbed until she came to a room right at the top of a tower. It was the only room in the palace she’d never been in! So she peeped inside and, to her surprise, there was a little old woman busily spinning wool on a spindle.
The little old woman says hello to the princess and she stood up and tried to curtsey. Aurora asks her if she can tell her what she was doing in that tower. The woman says that she was spinning silk to make her a dress; so the princess wanted to try.
Aurora sat down with the spindle in her hand and the little old woman began to show her how to spin silk.
Suddenly a sharp pain shot through Aurora’s arm as a spike on the spindle cut her finger. Grindlestinki’s curse was upon her!
Suddenly the little old lady threw off her cloak and stood up straight, it was Grindlestinki all along! She laughed a wicked laugh and ran away leaving the princess all alone. Princess Aurora fell into a deep sleep.
And all across the palace, people started to fall asleep too (the cook, the guards, the cat... Even the king and the queen.).
Over the years, weeds, brambles and plants grew up over the palace and a deep dark wood encircled. 
One spring day a young prince was riding his horse in the woods around the forgotten palace. He had heard the tale of a beautiful sleeping princess and a terrible birthday curse.
The prince wanted to find out so he began to climb up the palace wall.
And when he reached the top he couldn’t believe his eyes!
With his heart beating quickly the prince began to explore the palace. In every room people slept so he climbed higher and higher, looking through every door… Until he came to a tiny room at the top of a tower with a stone stair case.
He pushed open the door and there lay the beautiful Princess Aurora!
The handsome prince leaned down and kissed her… And at that moment she woke up… And the whole palace woke up with her… Yawning and stretching and wondering how long they’d been asleep.
The king and queen were so grateful to the prince for waking up their daughter and everyone else in the palace that they let him live in the palace with them.
They were overjoyed and everyone lived happily ever after!

Pollution.

Pollution is when something is added to the environment that is harmful or poisonous to living things. Smoke in the air from factories is a type of pollution, sewage in drinking water is another type of pollution.

Air pollution is caused by harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide carbon monoxide and very small particles of carbon. Most of the pollution is caused by factories, vehicles and livestock. Today air pollution has become dangerous to humans. Heavy air pollution may cause breathing problems such as asthma or other health problems.

Water pollution is the presence of harmful materials in water, such as sewage, dissolved metals, waste from farms and factories. Pollution causes harm to organisms living in water and can also harm people's health. In extreme cases it may cause problems such as cancer.

Soil pollution is when man-made chemicals, such as hydrocarbons, heavy metals, solvents, get into the soil. These chemicals come from industrial activities and from bad waste disposal. Soil pollution may cause health risks. The chemicals can produce harmful vapors, or they can contaminate water supplies underneath the polluted soil.

Sound pollution can cause ear problems or even permanent deafness, especially to older people. Noise pollution can also be defined as the unwanted and unpleasant sound present in the atmosphere.

The harmful noises in the environment, such as the sound of vehicles, loud speakers, etc. in a city is called noise pollution.

Dark humor.

A black comedy (or dark comedy) is a comic work that employs black humor, which, is humor that makes light of subject matter usually considered serious. The term black humor was coined by André Breton in 1935, to designate a sub-genre of comedy and satire in which laughter arises from cynicism and skepticism, often relying on topics such as death.

These are some examples of British dark jokes:

Two children, Johnny and Alex were sitting outside a clinic. Alex was crying very loudly. Johnny: Why are you crying? Alex: I came here for a blood test. Johnny: So? Are you afraid? Alex: No. For the blood test, they cut my finger. After hearing this Johnny started weeping making Alex feel surprised as well as curious and Alex asked: Why are you crying now? Johnny: I came for a urine test!

A man answers the telephone to find a doctor from the hospital's emergency room on the other end. "Sir," explains the doctor, "Your wife was in a serious car accident. I have bad news and good news." The man, taken back, asks hesitatntly, "What's the bad news?" "The bad news is your wife has lost all use of both arms and both legs. She will likely be on a respirator for the rest of her life." "Heavens, Doc, what's the good news?" The doctor replies, "I'm kidding. She's dead."

Body painting☺

Body painting is a form of body art. Unlike tattoo and other forms of body art, body painting is temporary, painted onto the human skin, and lasts for only several hours, or at most a couple of weeks. Body painting that is limited to the face is know as face painting.

Body painting is also referred to as "temporary tattoo"; large scale of full-body painting is more commonly referred to as body painting, while smaller or more detailed work is generally referred to as temporary tattoos.

It is common in militaries all over the world for soldiers in combat scenarios to paint their faces and other exposed body parts (hands, for example) in natural colors such as green, tan, and loam for camouflage purposes. In various South American militaries, it is a tradition to use face paint on parade in respect to the indigenous tribes.

                                                                                   

                                                                               

Mother's Day composition.☺

5 May was Mother's Day. My dad was at home to eat with us and we didn't work. It's beautiful because dad doesn't live with us for work's problems. He is a doctor and sometimes he works also on weekend. My mum is a housewife and she is all the time with her children. 5 May was her day. In the morning I and my brother Daniele prepared breakfast and we brought  it to mum. She cried because she was surprise! Then my brother Roberto and my sister said the poems and mum was so happy. At half past eleven we went at the Church and when we exited, my dad came with a cake that we ate at lunch. The cake was delicious; it was made with strawberries. I love it! In the afternoon we went at the shopping center "Panorama" and in the evening I went out with my friends.
It was a nice day!☺
